Kotobuki was an Iga ganin and the ancestress of Akame , who lived in the 1570s and 1580s.

She was one of the Kihē family’s ninja dogs. She was the consort of Ōzaru , and the mother of Hakutaka , Toki , Tetsu , Kōgetsu , and Tomoyasu .

Ginga Densetsu Akame

At the beginning of the story, in 1579, Kotobuki has given birth to five cubs: one black and white, two brown, one brown and white and one white. The white puppy is Hakutaka.

With Ryōjun, Ōzaru, Benimaru, and Kuma in the forest, Kihē ties a scroll around Kotobuki’s neck and sends him to take the message to the higher ninjas. Kotobuki runs into Sadamitsu while returning from his errand. They talk, after which Kotobuki returns home. While resting, he notices Hakutaka slowly coming towards him and is surprised that the puppy can already see.

Later, when Kōga’s ninjas attack, Kotobuki is defending the buildings. He is ordered to escape with his puppies, Kaede , Taichi and Kuma , to a secret passage. They all made it out of the battle alive.

From now on, Kotobuki has a small role in the story and is not seen participating in battles, although he is mentioned as a fighting ninja dog.
